Just a note of thanks to everyone for the response to my recent blog post. My UPS man delivered two boxes of lemon green tea yesterday and just as poppies have been a symbol of hope for me over the last two years, I think that a cup of lemon green tea has come [...]

I love to tell stories and I tend to get fairly expressive when I have a story to share. David & Lesley like to make me sit on my hands and try to tell a story without using them….that doesn’t last for long. This afternoon, my family came to visit me and I [...]

This picture has absolutely nothing to do with today’s post….it’s simply beautiful and relaxing. A calming picture as I report today that…..sigh…..apparently I am getting old. I know. I know. It’s hard to believe…..
Five days ago, I sent my youngest child off to college and I now inhabit an empty nest. [...]
Chemo-Induced Menopause
Posted in Cancer, Chemotherapy, Treatment, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on September 8, 2008 | 1 Comment »
One of the potential side effects of chemotherapy, particularly for women in their 40’s (I’m 46) is chemo-induced menopause. I completed six cycles of R-CVP in June 2008 and had my last period following the 4th cycle. I’m now 2.5 months post chemo and my periods have not yet returned……the hot flashes and chills that [...]

I’m now a little over two months post chemo and my hair is starting to grow. The new hair is about an inch and a half long, some brown/some grey, and the new growth makes my head feel “poofy”. It’s still short and fine but I’m happy to see it looking thicker.
Detox

I’m back home again after a very restful week, house-sitting for friends. Last week was “week 2″ following my sixth and final round of R-CVP, typically the week when I felt the worst. Fatigue has been my biggest challenge, often needing to lie down several times a day….and get up several times [...]
Onions…..

I don’t know if it’s the chemo but…..I’ve been smelling onions all day. Maybe I’ve absentmindedly left some onions lying around somewhere….that could be it, too. My brain is tired and not thinking straight. I’m glad that chemo is finally over and hopefully the “fog” will clear over the course of this [...]
My R-CVP Experience
Posted in Chemotherapy, Rituxan, Treatment, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on June 24, 2008 | 13 Comments »
I’ve just returned home from my final round of R-CVP treatments, diploma in hand and a nice card from all of the nurses and doctors. Every day, several people find my blog, searching for personal experiences with Rituxan and CVP chemotherapy, so I offer this post for them, as a summary of my experience.
I was [...]

Tales From This Weekend…..
Posted in Beagles, Chemotherapy, Life Goes On, non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on June 9, 2008 | 4 Comments »
I dread this time of year: the last two weeks of May, the first couple weeks of June. If you have kids, this time of year is a flurry of end of the school year activities, concerts, recitals…….and on and on. I LOVE September…..kids go back to school and life returns to normal……but June!….June is [...]
