Chemotherapy

On February 26, 2008, I met with my oncologist to schedule my second round of treatments.  I’ll have a portacath surgically implanted on March 5th and will begin R-CVP treatments on Monday, March 10th.  I’ll receive rituxan infusions on Mondays (a 3 -5 hour process) and chemotherapy (CVP) on Tuesdays.  This process will repeat every three weeks for a series of 6 cycles, ending in late June.

CVP is a relatively mild form of chemotherapy but I will lose my hair and I have a stack of prescriptions to fill, to treat everything from anxiety to nausea.  “Chemo-induced menopause” is sometimes a side effect of chemotherapy and, frankly, I’m looking at that as a possible “up-side” to all of this!
