A winter storm can cause a lot of anxiety in western Washington. In the Seattle area, a forecast of 1 – 3 inches of snow can send everyone into a panic. Friends and family in Michigan laugh at this, and it does seem silly, but it’s different here. We have lots of hills and giant evergreens that shade the roads. Temperatures will typically dip below freezing at night but warm just enough during the day to cause the snow to melt….creating lots of icy hills.
There’s a storm headed our way this weekend, with several inches of snow forecast and highs in the upper 20’s on Monday and Tuesday. I went to the store this morning to stock up and apparently everyone else had the same idea. It looked like the day before Thanksgiving! The parking lot was full and everyone was preparing for a cold, winter weekend.
Larry’s office Christmas party tonight was canceled so we’ll spend the evening at home with a warm fire and a pot of Cauliflower Soup with Gorgonzola. Tomorrow I’ll get the tree decorated and get Christmas cards ready to mail.
