On Saturday, we began the day with a walk on the beach at Hanalei Bay. We walked down to the shore past the Princeville Hotel which is currently under renovation. It’s a beautiful location and apparently a good surfiing spot as well. We saw many surfers, waiting for the right wave.
We then drove back into Hanalei (“Puff, the Magic Dragon” keeps playing in my head!) where we bought fish (Ono) and chowder at the Hanalei Dolphin Fish Market and salad at Papayas, a favorite natural foods store. We ate lunch at the condo and then headed south for the afternoon. We visited the Kauai Plantation (and wished that we’d had lunch on the beautiful covered veranda!) and discovered that the local Rotary Club was holding a wine tasting/silent auction there that evening. Local resaurants would be serving appetizers (read “bite-sized”, ie. “Carrie-sized” food) and live music would fill the air! Ah Ha! Just the way we like to spend an evening! We bought tickets, did some shopping at Costco and returned to the plantation last night….. (photos will be posted when Larry has downloaded them to his laptop)…..
