Final Day

It’s seven am. I’ve been up for the last hour, waiting for the sun to rise and hoping for clear skies and one final….sunny….day on the beach. We had a hard time finding a sunny beach yesterday (without driving south to Po’ipu). I wanted a quiet, sunny, child-free beach to laze away the afternoon, watching the surf and reading my book. We first went to Hanalei beach, near the pier, but it was cool and cloudy….and a family with kids settled in right next to us.

From there, we drove south to Kapa’a and found a quiet beach but, the clouds followed us and we didn’t have sun for long. We decided to go to an early dinner and enjoyed Passion Fruit margaritas and pork sandwiches (we’ve had fabulous pork here!). I felt ok at the restaurant but needed to lie down on the way home and then slept for 2 hours, getting up just in time for Westminster.

The sky looks clear this morning so we’ll be headed to my favorite beach at Haena Beach Park for a few hours of sun. We’ll pick up some chowder for lunch at the Hanalei Dolphin then go back to the condo to pack. We’ll have dinner at Keoki’s Paradise in Po’ipu then drive to Lihu’e to catch the red eye flight home.tunnels-beach

  1. A bit of Trivia for you about Haena Beach — it was used for the filming of “South Pacific” (one of my favourite places too)

    Welcome home to the snow…
